I was thrilled to be invited to the launch of Chelsea Wives by Anna-Lou Weatherly. Grazia describes the novel as ‘A fun romp of a read, the perfect poolside companion’, and having read the first few chapters of my (signed!) copy, I’m hooked already.

The launch was held in central London and it was a fantastic night, attended by fellow authors Martel Maxwell, Lucy Lord and Claudia Carroll, as well as lovely blogger Ronke Adeyemi (aka Onko Lady). The champagne and Pimms were flowing freely, Anna-Lou looked gorgeous, and copies of Chelsea Wives were being snapped up right, left and centre.

Anna-Lou and I share the same agent, the wonderful Madeleine Milburn, who made a heartfelt speech telling us how she’d loved the original three-chapter submission, and how Anna-Lou had tantalisingly drip-fed her further chapters over a number of weeks. The evening became quite emotional, with Anna-Lou almost ‘doing a Gwynnie’ (her words!) as she thanked her family and fiancé.

Chelsea Wives is officially out on 21st June, and sounds deliciously glamorous and scandalous – although I’m told the story’s a lot darker than the cover suggests.

The blurb says:

This is Desperate Housewives meets First Wives Club set in the glamorous borough of Chelsea. On the King’s Road, revenge is sweeter than champagne…

They are the ultimate ladies who lunch: Imogen, the beautiful ex-model, Calgary, the glamorous, former fashion editor, and Yasmin, the feisty ex-party girl. But life isn’t all champagne and canapés. Plagued by personal tragedy and united by failing marriages, they mastermind a shocking plan to turn the tables on their husbands.

Set against a backdrop of exotic locations, designer boutiques and London's high society scene, these Chelsea Wives are about to join forces and risk it all for the ultimate revenge…

It looks set to be huge, and if you don’t want to miss out, you can order your copy here.
